The good news is that scholarships in Singapore are not only restricted to local students but available for the International students as well. All students, be it domestic or international, are eligible to apply for tuition grants with the Singaporean Ministry of Education. However, you can only apply for a tuition grant after having been offered a place on a course. Tuition grants cover most of the costs of the tuition fees.
Just for information -The Service Obligation Scheme was introduced by the Government in AY2008 to subsidize the cost of postgraduate education in Singapore. International students pursuing selected postgraduate courses can take up the Service Obligation Scheme to pay lower subsidized fees at the following local universities;
- Nanyang Technological University
- National University of Singapore
- Singapore Management University
- Singapore University of Technology & Design
In return for the higher Government subsidy, International Students who have opted for the Scheme are required to sign a Service Obligation agreement. They will be contractually obliged to work for Singapore-based companies for 3 years upon graduation.
